Beckon Me On
Call me
beckon me on
where I belong
I’m not strong,
I’m shattered
Broken
Bereft
Left alone
By the force of the hurricane
People
say they remember
they never do
floating out of your life
as gentle as clouds
Scudding with the fury of the tempest
Lead me on
For Calvary
Silent and thought of as empty
A sign of defeat
Calls to me
My God
Mighty though He be
Gentle enough
To cradle me
In those outstretched arms
Hung on that tree
People’s promises are empty
My Saviour’s never are
They promise a new life
Loved into being
My life is not my own
It’s His
For no matter how faithless
Humanity is
I know
He is ever present
And I am safe
In His presence
Where I belong
